Safety Manual For Centrifuge

Safety is paramount when operating a centrifuge. By following the guidelines in this manual, you can minimize the risk of accidents, maintain the integrity of your samples, and extend the life of your equipment. Always prioritize safety and report any concerns or malfunctions to your supervisor or safety officer immediately.

Safe operation

1. The centrifuge should be placed steadily on the table to ensure its stability.

2. Before using the centrifuge, check whether the equipment is intact, especially the rotor and seals, to ensure that they are not damaged or loose.

3. When using a centrifuge, protective goggles and laboratory gloves should be worn to prevent splashing liquids from causing harm to the eyes and skin.

4. Pay attention to the maximum speed and maximum load limit of the centrifuge, and do not exceed the load-bearing capacity of the equipment.

5. Do not open or close the lid of the centrifuge while it is running to avoid accidental injury.

Sample preparation

1. When using various centrifuges, it is necessary to accurately balance all centrifuge tubes, centrifuge tube covers, hanging baskets, and fittings on the balance in advance. The weight deviation during preparation shall not exceed the range specified in the centrifuge manual. Attention should be paid to weight balancing. Generally, precision balancing requires a deviation of no more than 0.1g, while conventional applications require a deviation of no more than 1g. The weight deviation should not exceed the range specified in the centrifuge manual. In addition, attention should be paid to density balance. The materials filled in the centrifuge tube must have similar densities, otherwise the load will be unevenly distributed. Before placing the sample into the centrifuge, ensure that the sample tube or centrifuge tube is well sealed to avoid liquid leakage.

2. The sample should be evenly placed in the centrifuge rotor to ensure uniform centrifugal force at all positions.

3. The capacity of the sample should not exceed the capacity limit of the centrifuge tube or centrifuge rotor to avoid causing imbalance or damage to the centrifuge.

Select appropriate centrifugation parameters

1. Select appropriate centrifugation speed and centrifugation time according to experimental requirements. Different samples may require different parameters, which should be adjusted according to experimental requirements.

2. The selection of centrifugal speed should be determined based on the density of the sample and the purpose of separation. Excessively high or low centrifugal speeds may affect the separation efficiency.

3. The centrifugation time should be determined based on the volume and separation rate of the sample to ensure sufficient separation of the sample.

Precautions after centrifugation

1. Do not immediately open the lid after the centrifuge stops, wait for the rotor to stop rotating before operating.

2. Be careful when opening the centrifuge lid to avoid touching hot sample tubes or centrifuge tubes.

When taking out samples from the centrifuge, be careful to avoid collisions or liquid splashing.

3. After using the centrifuge, the equipment and rotor should be cleaned in a timely manner to ensure the hygiene and normal operation of the equipment.
